Treatment
The reasons why an individual would seek a therapeutic treatment will vary significantly. For the most part, we are driven to perform our best in many areas of life that include work, school, home, and with friends. When a mental health challenge begins to impede our ability to work within these systems, it can be helpful to work with a trained professional to find strategies and support.
At the Westcoast Child Development Group, our clinicians have all had clinically-approved training in providing therapeutic support to a variety of clients.
Some of the commonly seen challenges in our practice include:
- ADHD
- Depression
- Generalized Anxiety
- Panic Attacks
- Obsessive-Compulsive
- Social Anxiety
- Oppositional Behaviours
- School Refusal
- Transition Issues (e.g., from high school to post-secondary)
- Social Skills
- Relationship Issues
- Divorce/Separation Issues
Individual Treatment
Staff with the Westcoast Child Development Group adopt a Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy model that centres on short-term, goal-driven therapies. Each therapeutic contract is outlined with the client and is repeatedly updated over the course of treatment. Treatment programs are currently being offered for a number of issues that include: depression, anxiety, autism spectrum disorders, AD/HD, school, and family concerns. Therapeutic sessions are 50 minutes in length.
Family Therapy
Treatment with children and youth requires the input and support of family members. Family therapy meetings are offered to assist each family in working toward a healthier home environment and to work on practical, collaborative solutions. Family Therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length.
